Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Overview
GeoCharge (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a free mobile application that maps EV charging stations across Georgia and the surrounding region. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect only the minimum data needed to run the service — and we are transparent about all of it.
Data we collect
Email address
Collected when you create an account or sign in with Google. Used to identify your account and to send important service notifications.
Phone number (optional)
Provided by you in the profile screen only if you choose. Stored as a Georgian mobile number (+995). Never shared with third parties.
Location
Used while the app is open to center the map on your position and calculate distances to chargers. Processed on your device — never stored on our servers.
Device information
Basic device data such as your platform (Android or iOS), OS version and device model. Your platform is stored with your account; other diagnostics are collected by Firebase for crash reporting.
Usage data
Engagement metrics such as how often you open the app and when you were last active, along with the features you use. Some of these are linked to your account to run and improve the service — we never sell your data.
Advertising
The free, ad-supported version shows ads through Google AdMob, which may use an advertising identifier to serve and measure ads. On iOS you are asked for tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency) first, and you can reset or limit the advertising ID in your device settings. The optional Premium subscription removes all ads.
Why we collect it
Account management — to create and secure your GeoCharge account and let you sign in across devices.
App functionality — location is used solely to show nearby chargers and build routes. It is never stored or shared.
Service notifications — your email and (optionally) phone number may be used to inform you of important service updates.
App improvement — crash reports and usage statistics help us fix bugs and prioritize new features.
Advertising — the free version is supported by ads; buying a Premium subscription removes them.
Third-party services
GeoCharge relies on a small number of trusted services to work:
Firebase (Google) — authentication for sign-in, Cloud Firestore for storing your profile data, and Analytics / Crashlytics for app diagnostics.
Google Maps & Places API — powers address search and navigation links. Search queries are sent to Google’s servers.
Open Charge Map — provides international charging station data via its public API. No personal data is transmitted.
CARTO — serves map tile images. No personal data is transmitted in tile requests.
Google AdMob — shows ads in the free version and may use an advertising identifier to serve and measure them. Governed by Google’s policies.
Google Play & App Store — process Premium subscription purchases. We receive only a purchase token to unlock Premium — never your card or payment details.
Data processed by Google is handled under Google’s Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Data retention
We retain your account data (email and optional phone number) for as long as your account is active. Anonymous usage and crash data is retained for up to 12 months. Location data is never stored.
Your rights & data deletion
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To request deletion or a copy of your data:
Delete your account directly in the app (Profile → Sign Out), then contact us to remove your stored profile data.
Email us at geocharge.app@gmail.com with the subject line “Data Deletion Request”. We will process your request within 30 days.
Children’s privacy
GeoCharge is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
